Our Nylon PA12, also known as PA2200, is produced by EOS SLS industrial 3D Printing process. This material is tough and strong when thick, flexible when thin. With good biocompatibility, high thermal and chemical resistance, it is suitable for highly functional prototypes or end use applications. At sufficient part thickness, it should withstand the most rigorous applications such as drilling, dropping and prolong exposure in outdoor conditions. Not to mention, this material has certifications done by OEM and can be used to replace injection moulded parts. We highly recommend this material for end use production parts. With comparable material characteristic as MJF Nylon PA12, both materials are interchangeable and complements well together. It’s recommended for user to select MJF for dark colour parts and EOS SLS for light vibrant coloured parts. Ultimately, whichever works best or provide the best and cost advantage.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITY

Right out of production, this material is matte white in texture. We provide bead blasting as a default finish to polish all our Nylon PA12 | PA2200 parts, giving it a polished matte finishing. Other colour options such as black, red, blue, yellow, orange is available in this material. For more aesthetic demanding applications, we can also provide further post processing such as DM Polyshot Surfacing and 2K spray painting services to attain full gloss, near injection moulded aesthetic.

Not all SLS nylon materials are created equal. Unlike lower grade SLS nylon material, we only use premium EOS certified nylon PA2200 / PA12 material. With this, you can expect SLS parts made by us to have a smoother surface, higher resolution details and significantly better mechanical properties than most SLS parts out there. Not to mention, our EOS SLS nylon material passed the most stringent functionality tests and validation for use in a wide array of applications.

PRECISIONLY CRAFTED

Our Nylon PA12 | PA2200 is precisely crafted by world leading EOS SLS equipment. Using EOS Industrial Selective Laser Sintering Process also known as SLS, parts are precisely constructed by sintering nylon powder with strong laser beams at fine resolution. During the build process, parts are self-supported by surrounding nylon powder which enables the creation of complex parts without the worry of cumbersome support structures, allowing excellent freedom of design. Produced at performance 0.1mm settings and using only OEM certified materials, you can expect part quality consistency batches after batches.

Wall thickness for 3D Printing

Minimum Wall Thickness

We recommend the following minimum wall thickness:

  • 1 mm (parts ≤ 10 cm)
  • 2 mm (parts between 10 cm to 30 cm)
  • 3 mm (parts ≥ 30 cm)

Parts with Sufficient wall thickness is crucial to ensure successful print.

For Embossed Details: Recommended minimum thickness of 0.5mm and height of 0.5mm

For Engraved Details: Recommended minimum thickness of 0.5mm and depth of 0.5mm

Clearance for 3D Printing

Clearance for Fitting

It is very important to allow clearance between the space of 2 objects, so as to give a freedom of movement between the gap. We recommend:

  • 0.15 mm (tight fit), 0.3 mm (standard fit) and 0.5 mm (loose fit).

You are advised to test out several iterations to attain a perfect fit.

Hollow 3D Printed Parts

Hollowing Model

It is highly recommended to hollow out solid models to reduce cost and avoid shrinkage issues. We recommend:

  • Wall Thickness of ≥ 2mm for model below 35cm
  • Wall Thickness of ≥ 4mm for model between 35 to 60 cm

‘Escape Holes’ may be added to your model to drain excess material.

Warp 3D Printed Parts

Reduce Warpage

For models with large flat unsupported planes, there is a risk of warpage. To prevent this, consider adding ribs as reinforcement to combat this issue. 

Add ribs in moderation, adding them excessively may result in uneven cooling and further accelerate warpage.

Multiple Parts in Single File

Avoid Multiple Parts in a single file

Uploading multiple parts within a file may cause unnecessary delay in your order due to processing issues. Simply upload each part file separately for a smooth transaction.
